Venice Community Housing Corporation. www.vchcorp.org : On Sunday September 21, 2009, Venice Community Housing Corporation hosted the 17th annual Jazz at Palms Court Brunch and Venice Music Festival. About 150 people enjoyed a delicious brunch provided by Off the Wall Catering and the Venice Farmers’ Market. They enjoyed the cool jazz guitar sounds of the Ron Escheté duo. In the afternoon, guests danced to the tunes of Susie Hansen Latin Band and Venice favorite Adaawe while bidding on the silent auction filled with art works, restaurant gift certificates, personal and professional services, all donated by VCHC board members, local businesses, and supporters. The event raised over $50,000 to support VCHC’s ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing, social and family support services, to low-income families and at-risk youth in Venice and Mar Vista. 09.21.08 Venice Music Festival and Jazz at Palms Court Champagne Brunch. www.vchcorp.org Photos by Venice Paparazzi : On September 21, 2008, Afro-Cuban salsa band Sono-Lux and punky Latin reggae rockers Mandorico kept things lively at the 16th Annual Venice Music Festival. The fundraiser for the non-profit Venice Community Housing Corporation (VCHC) included a brunch, a silent auction and the Venice Music Festival concert. Proceeds from this event went to fund VCHC's ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing, social and family support services to low-income families and at-risk youth in Los Angeles. From 2pm to 6pm, world music and dancing took over the street for the annual Venice Music Festival. Bidders at the Silent Auction competed for art works, restaurant gift certificates, personal and professional services, all donated by VCHC Board members and supporters. There were also activities for children during the afternoon concert.
